Recommendation

What you should definitely experience during

your stay in Cómpeta.

Ruta de la Tapa

Get to know the people and bodegas of Cómpeta. The normal time to go out for tapas starts from 12h and ends late at night. If you go out for tapas at 12 noon or in the late afternoon from 6pm to 8pm, your main intention is to have a bite to eat with a drink before lunch or dinner. On the other hand, if you eat tapas at Spanish lunch time (13:30-15h) or dinner time (21h-22:30h), you eat as many tapas as you want until you are completely full.

Hike through the nature park

"Ruta Gaviarra" with start and end point at VILLA ATRÉJU. Plan 3 hours for this hike. If you haven't done at least one hike in Cómpeta, you haven't experienced Cómpeta.

Acebuchal - the ghost village

This small village belongs to the municipality of Cómpeta. It was once a refuge for the maquis, which is why it was practically dissolved by the Spanish authorities and abandoned to its fate during Franco's dictatorship. Fifty years later, El Acebuchal was rebuilt by the García Sánchez family. The peace, tranquillity and exceptional natural surroundings that surround El Acebuchal make it a unique place. Drive a little way in the direction of Torrox and after a few minutes take the footpath to Acebuchal. Once there, stop at the only bar, which is of course called "Bar El Acebuchal". The homemade bread is a sensation and is also sold to take away. Forget everyday life, enjoy the peace and quiet of this unique place.
